THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER

The Prince and the Pauper is an original musical by legendary Israeli producer Avraham Deshe (Pashanel) and Yaron Kafkafi, inspired by Mark Twain’s classic novel. The musical premiered in 1996 at the Tel Aviv Culture Palace, in a major production led by Pashanel and Chaim Topol, with producer Arnon Milchan and Yochelman-Asher Productions. At the heart of the musical are two boys who look exactly alike but come from completely different worlds: a prince raised in a palace and a poor boy raised on the streets. When they exchange identities, each discovers a life he has never known – and learns that status, clothes and titles do not determine a person’s worth. A musical adventure about friendship, justice, responsibility and compassion, the show was born from a remarkable collaboration between one of Israel’s legendary producers and a young musical-theatre writer and composer at the beginning of his career.
